Red Cherry Tree is strongly committed to supporting good causes. Our chosen charity is, ‘One Cause’ a UK registered charity. As part of our commitment, Red Cherry Tree will donate a percentage of sales on several products including our cupcakes and baby bouquets to the charity.
One Cause is dedicated to improving the lives of thousands of underprivileged people from all around the world through the provision of education. The charity has a strong belief in education being the answer to end poverty, and has been helping communities since 2007.
One Cause does not build schools, it builds communities. The charity works alongside educational institutions to enhance the level of education and help build sustainable education solutions. Not only do children benefit from the charity's activities, One Cause ensures those parents and other adults in the local community benefit from its educational programmes as well.
In 2007, One Cause started working with the Nirvana school in Pondicherry, South India. Since then, the school, its students and the local community has greatly benefited from One Cause projects including fresh drinking water, computers, books and online learning resources, laboratory equipment, sports equipment, adult education courses and equipment for computing, printing and tailoring amongst others. In addition to providing these facilities, One Cause has built strong links with local businesses to provide employment opportunities for students once they complete school.
In 2009, One Cause initiated a second programme at the Auro Technical School in Uganda, Africa. Similarly to the India programme; the school, its students and the local community have benefited immensely since the start of this project, with the introduction of new courses such as brick laying, tailoring and carpentry to improve vocational skills. One Cause has funded the purchase of teaching materials and tools. The charity has also funded meal plans at the school to improve nutrition and also encourage more students from the nearby villages to attend school and thus enhance their skills.
One Cause does not just donate money, its dedicated team visits the schools regularly, managing and monitoring all its projects to ensure successful execution. Further, the directors and volunteer staff of the charity work on a purely voluntary basis without claiming any salaries, helping to keep its overheads very low. This ensures that almost 100% of all funds raised are used on its beneficiary programmes.
